Who is responsible for snow clearing – the municipality or the property owner?
The municipality clears streets and most cycle paths, but on your own plot, driveway, courtyard and car park the property owner is always responsible. Many municipalities in Stockholm County also require the property owner to keep the pavement outside the plot free of snow and gritted – the rules that apply are set out in the municipality's local street-cleaning regulations. For roofs, the Swedish Public Order Act applies: snow and ice at risk of falling must be removed without undue delay.
For a housing cooperative (BRF) or a property company this means the board or the property manager carries the responsibility if someone slips in the courtyard or is hit by an icicle. A winter contract with documented call-outs is the simplest way to show that the responsibility has been taken seriously.
How quickly does Service Plus arrive after a snowfall?
With a winter contract we turn out automatically when the snow depth passes the threshold we have agreed, usually around five centimetres, and normally within a few hours after the snowfall has eased. Businesses and cooperatives can choose early call-outs so that entrances and car parks are cleared before the morning rush. One-off call-outs are booked via the form and carried out as soon as we have a free slot – during heavy snowfalls contract customers are prioritised.
What does snow clearing cost and what qualifies for the RUT deduction?
The price depends on the size of the surfaces, how often we come and whether gritting, roof snow removal or hauling away is included. We always provide a free quote with a clear hourly rate or price per call-out before winter begins. Snow shovelling and gritting on the plot of your home qualify for a RUT deduction (the Swedish tax deduction for household services) of up to 50% of the labour cost – we handle the application and deduct it directly on the invoice. Cooperatives and businesses are invoiced as business customers.

Yes. One-off call-outs are booked via the form or by phone and carried out as soon as we have a free slot. During heavy snowfalls contract customers come first, so anyone who wants to be sure of help books a winter contract before the season.
Do you grit or salt?
Both, depending on the surface and temperature. Salt works best down to around minus seven degrees and is used on hard surfaces where snow and ice should melt away; sand and grit are used at lower temperatures, on natural stone and where salt would damage plants or concrete.
Is snow clearing covered by the RUT deduction?
Yes, for private individuals. Snow shovelling and gritting on the plot of your home qualify for a RUT deduction of up to 50% of the labour cost. Hauling snow away and work for cooperatives and businesses are not covered.
Do you clear snow from roofs?
Yes. Snow and icicles are removed from roofs, eaves and gutters by staff with fall-protection equipment, and the pavement is cordoned off during the work. We first assess whether the roof needs clearing or whether it is enough to remove icicles and snow build-up at the eaves.
