How much does it cost to fell a tree in Stockholm?
The price of tree felling depends on the size of the tree, how confined its position is, how easy it is to reach with a vehicle and machinery, and whether stump grinding and waste removal are to be included. A free-standing tree on an open plot requires considerably less work than a large tree next to the house that has to be taken down in sections. What affects the price of tree felling?
Two trees of the same species can cost completely different amounts to fell. What decides it is the working time and the risk.
- Size: the taller and thicker the tree, the more work, equipment and material to deal with.
- Position: if the tree stands free it can be felled in one piece. If it stands close to buildings, cables or a neighbour's plot it has to be taken down in sections by climbing or from a lift.
- Access: if a vehicle and chipper can drive up to the tree, the work goes faster than if all the material has to be carried.
- Extras: stump grinding, waste removal and cutting into firewood are added separately.
- Condition of the tree: dead or rot-damaged trees are more dangerous to climb and often require a lift.
Can the tree be felled in one piece or does it have to be dismantled in sections?
This is the single biggest factor for the working time. A tree can be felled in one piece when there is a clear fall zone at least as long as the tree is tall, with no buildings, fences, cables or sensitive plantings in the way. Felling is then quick.
If the tree stands close to a house, garage, neighbour's plot or cables, it is taken down in sections. Our tree feller climbs or uses a lift, cuts the crown piece by piece and lowers the parts down in a controlled way. This requires more time and two people, which is why the price differs so much between two trees of the same size.
How does the RUT deduction work for tree felling?
Tree felling, pruning and stump grinding on the plot of your home count as garden work and qualify for a RUT deduction (the Swedish tax deduction for household services) of up to 50% of the labour cost. Service Plus handles the application with the Swedish Tax Agency and deducts the amount directly on the invoice.
Waste removal, machine hire and materials are not covered by the deduction and are therefore itemised separately in the quote.

Can I keep the firewood?
Yes. Service Plus cuts the trunk into firewood lengths that are left on the plot, which also lowers the cost of waste removal.
